The Richard Rockefeller Fellowship
The Richard Rockefeller Fellowship (RRF) commemorates the life of Dr. Richard Rockefeller by fostering emerging Chinese leadership in the development of strategic philanthropy in China.
About the Fellowship
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) believes that with innovative government policy, a vibrant marketplace, and growing public participation, China has the potential to lead the world in sustainable approaches to development. The Richard Rockefeller Fellowship advances RBF grantmaking efforts by promoting and nurturing effective leadership in China’s sustainable development and/or philanthropy fields. The fellowship supports two Chinese citizens, between the ages of 25 and 35, so they may study and work in New York for up to six months.
Dr. Rockefeller was greatly inspired by the growth of Chinese philanthropy and the relationships he formed with some of the country’s philanthropic families. Before his tragic death in 2014, he became a passionate advocate for strategic philanthropy as a bridge to strengthen U.S.-China partnerships and a platform to meet the global challenges of our time.
The fellowship is supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, with the generosity of the Lao Niu Brother & Sister Foundation, the Dalio Foundation, and members of the Rockefeller family. The RBF works in partnership with the Institute of International Education to establish and implement this fellowship, and under the guidance of an advisory committee of sector leaders and practitioners.
The Richard Rockefeller Fellowship is open to individuals by nomination only. Every nominator can recommend up to two individuals to apply for the fellowship.
