Masterz at Work Dance Family Presents "Space"
by choreographer Courtney Washington Balenciaga
David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center at Pocantico
Tickets: $15 (+$1.75 ticketing fee)
Black trans femme choreographer Courtney Washington Balenciaga—a legend in the ballroom community—and Masterz at Work Dance Family present a work-in-process showing of Space, a dance composition that strives toward a more inclusive, fair, representative, and colorful world. The event will begin with a screening of Trans Love Is Beautiful, a video developed by Balenciaga and Masterz at Work, followed by a moderated discussion with the dancers and choreographer. The show will conclude with a live performance of Space.
Space was commissioned by Works & Process and was developed in Works & Process LaunchPAD residencies at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park (2021), Bethany Arts Community (2022), and The Pocantico Center (2023).
The event will be followed by a reception with special access to the DR Center gallery, currently showing Inspired Encounters: Women Artists and the Legacies of Modern Art.
The snow date for this event is Friday, January 13.
