The Rockefeller Brothers Fund celebrates the tenth anniversary of our decision to divest from fossil fuels, announced September 22, 2014, on the eve of the historic People’s Climate March in New York.

The RBF has had no direct involvement in the campus protests nor have we earmarked funds for them. Some RBF grantees have provided training, messaging, and/or legal support to student protest leaders. Details of our grants are published on our website. 

Together with the RBF Investment Committee and our OCIO, Agility, we shared the first  assessment of our ESG and impact managers in 2018 and provided updates in 2021. In 2023, we expanded our efforts to measure the nonfinancial returns of ESG and impact investment portfolios. 

Since 2011, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund has made grants in pursuit of justice, security, dignity, and peace for all Israelis and Palestinians.

In 2022, the RBF awarded $385,000 in grants to organizations supporting communities affected by the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Richard Rockefeller Fellowship aims to strengthen collaborative ties between the U.S. and Chinese philanthropic sectors and support young Chinese leaders to learn about strategic philanthropy.
