We stand in solidarity with our Asian American colleagues, partners, and neighbors in the struggle against racism and misogyny.

McGhee’s book, The Sum of Us, chronicles her journey around the country to explore the social and economic gains that result when people unite across racial divides.

It is our hope that the one-time fellowship—and the academic collaboration it facilitates—will inspire the resumption of government-support for future people-to-people exchanges between the China and the United States.

In a statement, RBF President Stephen Heintz writes, "The violent attack on the U.S. Capitol yesterday was distinctly un-American and an affront to our system of democratic government. Politicians who supported or enabled, actively or tacitly, this insurrection must be held to account."

The RBF committed an additional $9 million to support 11 long-term partners and new organizations, coalitions, and initiatives.

After years of research and planning, in late 2019 the RBF selected the region encompassing El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras as the focus for a new “pivotal place” program. Aguilar will work with civil society organizations and other stakeholders to shape the program to address the most pressing issues facing the region. The program is expected to begin grantmaking in earnest in mid-2021.

The initiative, made through the Fund’s Culpeper Arts and Culture program, will support a range of exhibitions, programs, residencies, and other projects that provide greater visibility and opportunities for artists who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, as well as for women and LGBTQ artists, whose work continues to be underrepresented in major American museums.

The letter reflects an unprecedented consensus among national, state, and local grantmakers and philanthropic institutions.

The Peacebuilding program team took inspiration from a wide range of peacebuilders. Some are internationally acclaimed figures, others are the less well-known but equally inspiring partners whom the Peacebuilding staff is privileged to work with and learn from.
