The Fund Strongly Supports the Role of Civil Society in Hungary

Fund President Stephen Heintz and more than 80 other leaders from the American and European philanthropic communities have signed a statement recognizing and affirming the important role of civil society in Hungary amid repeated efforts to restrict and stigmatize nongovernmental organizations operating there.

The RBF partnered with organizations in Hungary and Central Europe as early as the mid-1980s, and the Fund continues to be part of the global donor community that is committed to supporting civil society worldwide, including in Hungary, to promote citizen-centered governance, limit the dangers of climate change, and encourage sustainable development.
