2025 Culpeper Summer Performance Series

The Culpeper Summer Performance Series brings the best of New York City arts and culture to Westchester.

Hosted annually at The Pocantico Center, the series presents music, dance, and theater supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Culpeper Arts & Culture program. These one-night-only performances take place at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center, with a special three-performance engagement by Site-Specific Dances that will activate the landscapes around Kykuit, the historic home of the Rockefeller family.

Djapo: Dance Performance and Lesson

Omari Wiles—a force in New York’s ballroom and dance scenes—joins his mother, Marie Basse-Wiles, a revered figure in African diasporic dance, for Djapo, a vibrant new work commissioned by Works & Process. The piece brings together their companies Les Ballet Afrik and Maimouna Keita School of African Dance.

The Sound of Jazz: Music for Our Time

Presented by the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and legendary jazz clarinetist and tenor saxophonist Ken Peplowski, this event brings together a talented lineup of local and national musicians to celebrate the rich history of jazz.

POSTPONED: SPANGLISH SH!T: A Bilingual Brujería Musical

This work-in-process concert tells the story of Brujita, a trans Puerto Rican witch who stands trial at the Supreme Court, accused of brewing up a vengeful hurricane.

Sculpture Dances: Kykuit activated Kykuit’s sculpture gardens with new layers of movement and music over a series of hour-long, site-specific performances.

Once home to the Rockefeller family, The Pocantico Center’s verdant campus in the scenic hills of the Hudson Valley has been host to some of the most influential leaders, thinkers, and creative minds of the last century. Today, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund continues to bring people together at Pocantico through a robust slate of conferences, artist residencies, tours, performances, exhibitions, and educational programs. Housed in John D. Rockefeller’s historic 1908 Orangerie, The David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center at Pocantico is an arts hub with a gallery, performance space, and flexible artist’s studio. It offers a sustainable and inclusive home for the creative process where artists and the community come together to develop, present, and experience art.
