Explore selected highlights of The Pocantico Center’s renowned outdoor sculpture collection on a walking tour of the grounds surrounding Kykuit. Set high above the Hudson with dramatic views of the river and Palisades, Kykuit is surrounded by dramatic hilltop terraces and formal gardens designed by William Welles Boswsorth. In the 1960s and 1970s, Nelson Rockefeller placed more than 70 works of modern sculpture from European and American artists, including Louise Nevelson and Pablo Picasso, throughout the gardens.
Arnaldo Ugarte, sculpture conservator at Pocantico, will provide a historical overview of several of these sculptures with a special focus on their materials, colors, textures, and placement within the landscape.
Between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., tour attendees may also visit the gallery at the DR Center to view Woven Wonders: Kykuit’s Picasso Tapestries, spotlighting eight large-scale weavings from Nelson Rockefeller’s collection.
Some parts of this tour will require walking uphill and on slippery or uneven terrain, gravel paths, and stairs. Please wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.
All sales final; no refunds. The rain date for this event is Friday, August 14, 2026. Refunds are not available if guests are unable to attend the event, should it be rescheduled to the rain date.
