The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) has named Meredith Sorin Horsford as executive director of The Pocantico Center on the former Rockefeller family estate in Tarrytown, New York.

The RBF established its Peacebuilding program in 2011 to advance “just and durable peace." A distinctive feature of the program has been its joint focus on conflict prevention and conflict transformation. Some grantmaking priorities will evolve amid shifts in domestic and global contexts.

This fall, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Rockefeller Archive Center will present Sketching Light: Chagall’s Windows for Union Church at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center at Pocantico. The exhibition will provide a rare opportunity to explore the creative process of renowned artist Marc Chagall.

The RBF Democratic Practice–Global Challenges guidelines more clearly emphasize the program’s commitment to social and environmental justice.

 

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund released a new report by its president and CEO, Stephen Heintz, urging swift and holistic reform of global governance institutions to respond to urgent transnational challenges. 

Colin Campbell steered the Rockefeller Brothers Fund with signature warmth and patience during a period of extraordinary growth from 1988 to 2000. He passed away at home surrounded by family on June 21, 2024.

The last review of the Western Balkans program, in 2019, described a region in transition. Five years later, the region still faces challenges. Recognizing both the region’s challenges and signs of progress, the Western Balkans program has made minor adjustments to its grantmaking guidelines.

Robert B. Oxnam, former trustee of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) and president of the Asia Society, shared his decades of China scholarship and visionary approach to help shape the RBF’s China program. Robert passed away at home from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on April 18, 2024.

The RBF has had no direct involvement in the campus protests nor have we earmarked funds for them. Some RBF grantees have provided training, messaging, and/or legal support to student protest leaders. Details of our grants are published on our website.
