Voters Eager to Remain Engaged, Post-Election Study Finds
Despite polling place issues in 2000 and 2004, and fears that they would reoccur in the last election, the vast majority of Americans said they had a positive voting experience in 2008 and intend to remain active in their communities. In an effort to gauge citizens' views on the voting process and how these experiences shape their willingness to become involved in civic affairs, RBF grantee Public Agenda conducted the "Voter Experience Survey" immediately following the historic 2008 elections. Based on almost 1,500 telephone interviews of a national random sample of adults, the survey found an overwhelming majority of Americans had a positive voting experience, and were extremely enthusiastic about being engaged in their communities.
