Stephen Heintz Joins Partners for a New Beginning Steering Committee
RBF President Stephen Heintz has joined the Steering Committee of Partners for a New Beginning (PNB), a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization established to utilize private sector and civil society resources to advance "renewed engagement with Muslims around the world based on mutual respect and responsibility," as discussed in President Barack Obama's June 2009 speech in Cairo.
Members of the Steering Committee have agreed to use their expertise, networks, and access to resources to build public-private partnerships and projects to advance opportunity in Muslim communities around the world in four key areas: economic opportunity, science and technology, education, and exchange. Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright serves as PNB's chair, and Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, and Walter Isaacson, president and CEO of The Aspen Institute, serve as vice chairs.
The staffing and development of Partners for a New Beginning, an initiative of the Aspen Institute, was supported by a grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in June 2010.
