Rockefeller Brothers Fund Awards $1 Million to 1Sky

NEW YORK, NY

(April 3, 2008) - The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) has announced a $1 million grant to 1Sky, a national campaign, to support a nationwide movement to achieve global warming policy solutions in the United States by 2010.

"1Sky represents the next natural phase of climate-related grantmaking for the RBF," said Michael Northrop, the Sustainable Development program director.  "By joining together the various constituents of the climate movement, the 1Sky campaign is poised to create a coherent and coordinated movement for bold policy solutions."

Led by Gillian Caldwell, campaign director and long-time human rights advocate, the 1Sky campaign aims to channel the vast interest in global warming into a focused call for national solutions to global warming equal to the scale of the climate crisis.  The 1Sky campaign is built around a three-part policy platform that calls for: 1) the creation of five million new jobs through the launch of a Green Jobs Corps, 2) the reduction of global warming pollution by at least 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020, and 3) the transformation of the U.S. energy priorities to create a clean energy future.
