RBF Grantees Host Strategy Session About 'Greening' GDP

A strategy session called "Dethroning GDP," which was co-hosted by RBF grantees Demos, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) on March 30, and featured RBF trustee and WRI founder Gus Speth, was the impetus behind economist John Talberth's opinion piece about replacing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the most important indicator of economic progress. In his editorial, which was published on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Web site, Talberth discusses the importance of 'greening' GDP, so that progress in sustainability is recognized as an important part of a country's growth.
