Kykuit, the former Rockefeller family home in Tarrytown, NY.
Over the past several years, The Pocantico Center campus and, alongside it, our public programming have expanded significantly with the additions of Abeyton Lodge (the former playhouse) in 2018 and the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center in 2022. Visitor interest in historic site tours of Kykuit increasingly overlaps with interest in our art exhibitions, cultural offerings, and mission-driven conferences offered elsewhere on the estate.
As a result, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund has decided to think about tours of the campus more holistically, which requires managing them in-house. Kykuit tours will be on hiatus for the 2026 season as we develop a new vision for the visitation program. The pause will also enable the RBF to complete upgrades that expand public access to the entire Pocantico campus, including a visitor parking lot and a sculpture walk. Kykuit tours will resume in 2027 with a streamlined visitor experience.
All other activities at Pocantico—public programs, artist residencies, and conferences—will continue as usual in 2026.
We are deeply grateful to Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) for three decades of partnership, bringing the heart of this historic campus to life for the public. The museum educators who conducted the Kykuit tours were an essential component of the HHV visitation program, and we respect their dedication and deep understanding of the history of the property. We plan to consult the museum educators as we craft a new tour program and hope to find opportunities to work together going forward. Former Kykuit museum educators who are interested in remaining involved with the estate are encouraged to reach out to [email protected].
