The Iran Project Urges United States to Reevaluate its Foreign Policy Toward Iran

Sanctions imposed by the United States against Iran have fallen short of expectations and the unintended consequences may pose risks, according to The Iran Project's latest report, released on Wednesday. The report, backed by former senior U.S. officials and outside experts, recommends that Washington rebalance its dual-track policy by strengthening its diplomatic efforts. Increased pressure has contributed to more repression and corruption in Iran, and may be fostering the growth of long-term alienation between the Iranian people and the United States, the report warned.

Strategic Options for Iran: Balancing Pressure with Diplomacy is the third report issued by The Iran Project, a nongovernmental organization working to promote diplomatic solutions between the United States and Iranian governments. It was founded in 2002 by the United Nations Association of the United States of America and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
