Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas appointed to Mayor Bill de Blasio's Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has appointed Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas, the director of the Fund's Charles E. Culpeper Arts & Culture program, as vice chair of the New York City Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission.

The Commission comprises appointees from a diverse array of cultural and artistic organizations and practices. It advises the mayor and Tom Finkelpearl, commissioner of Cultural Affairs, on issues impacting the city's cultural community. The Commission is chaired by Susana Torruella Leval, director emerita of El Museo del Barrio.

"This is such an exciting time for our City and for the nation," Rodriguez-Cubeñas said. "I look forward to making sure that culture remains a critical part of the key developments in our City and informs the national and international dialogue about culture and its role in cities."

Rodriguez-Cubeñas is co-founder and board chair of the Cuban Artists Fund and also serves on the leadership council of the New York Foundation for the Arts.
