Kykuit, the former Rockefeller Home at Pocantico

Explore selected highlights of The Pocantico Center’s renowned outdoor sculpture collection on a walking tour of the grounds surrounding Kykuit. Arnaldo Ugarte, sculpture conservator at Pocantico, will provide a historical overview of several twentieth-century sculptures with a special focus on their materials, colors, textures, and placement within the landscape. Visitors will also see the results of recent conservation projects, including newly restored monumental works by Karel Appel and Jean Dubuffet.
Please note that this tour will require walking uphill, on uneven terrain, grass, and gravel paths, and may require using stairs. Please wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.

Arnaldo Ugarte
Honduran-born sculptor Arnaldo Ugarte works as a sculpture conservator at The Pocantico Center. His work includes maintaining the outdoor sculpture and other objects in the collection and assisting with art-related projects. Ugarte studied sculpture at the Pratt Institute and has worked in art conservation at foundries and other institutions, including the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Park at Pepsi-Co.
