Award winning and dynamic tap dance company Dorrance Dance will perform selections from SOUNDspace, a work that explores what is most beautiful and exceptional about tap dancing: movement as music. 

A reception will follow the performance. The rain date for this event is Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

Michelle Dorrance

Michelle Dorrance is an NYC-based performer, choreographer, and teacher, and the artistic director of Dorrance Dance. Mentored by Gene Medler (North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble), she was lucky to study under many of the last master hoofers. Career highlights include: STOMP, Savion Glover’s ti dii, and solo work for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Martha Graham Dance Company, American Ballet Theatre, and more. A 2015 MacArthur Fellow, Ms. Dorrance holds a B.A. from NYU.

Dorrance Dance

Dorrance Dance is an award-winning tap dance company based in New York City. Founded in 2011 by artistic director and 2015 MacArthur Fellow Michelle Dorrance, the company shares the incredibly dynamic range that tap dance has to offer through performance and education. Its goal is to engage with audiences on a musical and emotional level, and to share the complex history and powerful legacy of this American art form throughout the country and the world.
