Wendy Gordon has been a leader in the green consumer movement, having founded Mothers & Others for a Livable Planet, a pioneering consumer outreach organization, in 1989, and Green Guide, the go-to resource for the eco-conscious consumer, acquired in 2007 by National Geographic. She is currently a consultant for the Natural Resources Defense Council where she is editorial director of its consumer action portal, Smarter Living, Smarter Cities, a web resource for communities, and Smarter Business which spotlights innovators in industry. Gordon also serves as chair of the editorial board for OnEarth, NRDC’s environmental news magazine and has collaborated on several books, including most recently the award-winning True Food: 8 Simple Steps to a Healthier You, published by National Geographic Books.
Gordon received a B.S. in geological and geophysical sciences from Princeton University and an M.S. in environmental health sciences from the Harvard School of Public Health. She currently serves as vice chair of the board of Rainforest Alliance, an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and sustain livelihoods by transforming land use and business practices; and as trustee of Trickle Up, an international nonprofit organization that promotes microenterprise development among the poor, and the Rockefeller Family Fund. Gordon sits on the advisory boards for the Columbia Center for Children’s Environmental Health, Recyclebank, GreenStar, and Green Seal.
