Stephen Heintz, president of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, speaks at the Council on Foundations conference in Toronto on April 27, 2004, where he accepts the Paul Ylivisaker Award.
RBF President Stephen Heintz discusses the alarming paradox that exists in our society today: while more of the world’s people now live under democratic regimes than at any other time in human history, democracy is in peril in some societies.
In his speech, "Vision, Courage, and Sustainability," Mr. Rockefeller argued that achieving "sustainability is both a possibility and an ecological and social necessity."
