Obama Recognizes CNN Hero

Recently profiled as a CNN Hero, Alfa Demmellash of Rising Tide Capital was recognized by President Obama at a White House event highlighting effective nonprofit programs. Obama praised Demmellash and Rising Tide for helping low-income entrepreneurs—many of whom are single mothers—start or grow their businesses in New Jersey. Rising Tide Capital is a grantee through the RBF's Staff Grantmaking Fund, which provides nongrantmaking staff with the opportunity to be grantmakers, and experience the Fund's core work firsthand.
