New Report Recommends Emissions Control Area for China's Pearl River Delta

Introducing an Emissions Control Area, like those established in Europe and North America is a necessary action for China's Pearl River Delta, according to a new report released by Civic Exchange and the University of Hong Kong. The report, A Price Worth Paying: The Case for Controlling Marine Emissions in the Pearl River Delta, is designed to assist policymakers with regulating toxic exhaust emissions from marine vessels. Recommendations include mandating the use of fuels with lower sulphur content and reducing vessel speeds. The report was made possible by a grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund's Southern China Program.
