Global Leaders Learn from States, Commit to Climate Change

Hosted in Los Angeles by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and jointly supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund's Sustainable Development and Pivotal Place: Southern China programs, the Governors' Global Climate Summit brought together over 800 attendees from the United States, China, India, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, the EU and other key regions of the world in an historic meeting to develop partnerships and promote collaborative efforts needed to battle climate change.

With representatives from the world's biggest greenhouse gas emitters, the Summit provided a forum for reviewing lessons learned by "climate leadership" states and discussing solutions.  Participating world leaders agreed to establish workgroups to develop sector-specific actions and position papers on policies that will advance international negotiations toward the next global climate agreement.
