Around the world, advocates are calling for policy responses to the systemic drivers of economic inequality, social discrimination, and environmental destruction. Known as “Just Transition” efforts, they share common principles of ambitious public investment, democratic public action, and global coordination.

groundWork Trust (gW) is working to strengthen and link Just Transition movements across the Global South and with counterparts in the Global North. An esteemed South African environmental justice organization, gW will engage with new and trusted partners to assess the status of socio-environmental justice debates and weave together international experiences with local struggles to build a strong narrative that gives voice and strength to those on the frontlines. gW also hosts an annual four-week residency for activists from around the region to build relationships, share knowledge, and plan collective action.
