The Pocantico Center
The Pocantico Center furthers the missions and reflects the values of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the National Trust for Historical Preservation. Its conference center provides a setting where nonprofit organizations and public-sector institutions can engage one another on critical issues that reflect the Fund’s programmatic interests, and which lead to new levels of understanding and creative resolutions. About 60 conferences, meetings, and public programs are held annually at Pocantico.
In 1991, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund leased from the National Trust for Historic Preservation the portion of the Rockefeller estate bequeathed to the Trust by Nelson Rockefeller. Subsequently, through the generosity of members of the Rockefeller family, the Fund created The Pocantico Center as an extension of its grantmaking activities.
The Rockefeller Brothers Fund's stewardship of the Pocantico Historic Area includes overseeing the maintenance, care, conservation, and restoration of the historic buildings, gardens, and collections of decorative and fine art. Thomson Reuters has announced the addition of Investigative News Network's (INN) long-form investigative journalism to its media platform, bolstering its news content for publishers and broadcasters worldwide. Thirty INN members have agreed to participate, including RBF grantees Center for Public Integrity and Center for Investigative Reporting. INN was formed at The Pocantico Center in 2009.
Dwell, a magazine about modern architecture, profiled the Marcel Breuer House at Pocantico in their February issue. Curator Cynthia Altman and Staff Architect and Director of Operations Kimberly Miller discussed restoring the house to Marcel Breuer's original design, while making it habitable for artist residencies and other public programs.
