What does it mean to be in community?
Westchester County is in the midst of important social and demographic shifts that could have implications for voting rights, income disparity, and housing and tenants’ rights, among other things. Rockefeller Brothers Fund Director for Democratic Practice-U.S. Keesha Gaskins-Nathan, and Community Voices Heard Executive Director Juanita O. Lewis will share a snapshot of evolving local demographics, debunk myths about our region, and consider the opportunities and challenges ahead. They will then invite audiences, both in-person and online, to join the discussion about how building community can help address some of the most pressing issues facing the people of Westchester County. A reception will follow.

All tickets must be purchased in advance online. ALL TICKET HOLDERS must show proof of vaccination and wear masks in all indoor spaces at The Pocantico Center. Proof of vaccination and a valid picture ID must be presented upon check-in.
Keesha Gaskins-Nathan
Program Director, Democratic Practice–United States, Rockefeller Brothers Fund
Keesha Gaskins-Nathan is the director for the Democratic Practice–United States program and the Racial Justice Initiative at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. She is a long-time organizer, lobbyist, and trial attorney. Prior to joining the RBF, she was senior counsel with the Brennan Center for Justice, serving as the director of the Redistricting and Representation program. Ms. Gaskins-Nathan served as executive director for the League of Women Voters Minnesota and the Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus.
Juanita O. Lewis
Executive Director, Community Voices Heard
Juanita O. Lewis is the executive director of Community Voices Heard. She began her work as an organizer in 2004 with the Minnesota chapter of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Ms. Lewis was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Masters of Advocacy and Political Leadership from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
