Justin Rockefeller

Justin Rockefeller is vice president of Uhuru Capital Management, an investment management platform designed to enable investors to pursue financial returns while facilitating global economic and social development. 

Mr. Rockefeller co-founded and was national program director of GenerationEngage a nonpartisan youth civic engagement initiative that connects young Americans—particularly those who fall outside the boundaries of university campuses—to one another, to political leaders, to other civic organizations, and to meaningful conversations about the future. 

Mr. Rockefeller has received three awards: the 2007 Common Cause Andrew Heiskell Youth Democracy in Action Award; the 2008 New Leaders Council 40 Under 40 Emerging Leader Award; and the 2008 Edwin Powell Hubble Medal of Initiative.

He serves on the boards of Japan Society; Population Council; the Rockefeller Family Fund; and GenerationEngage.  Mr. Rockefeller was appointed to the New York State Commission on National and Community Service.  In addition, he serves on the national leadership council of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, the executive committee of The International Council of The Museum of Modern Art, and the advisory boards of America Forward; Fast Forward Fund; and Children for Children. 

Mr. Rockefeller has a B.A. from Princeton University, where he studied politics and art.  Born in West Virginia and raised mainly in Washington, D.C., he now lives with his wife, Indré, in New York City.
