Valerie Rockefeller Wayne

Valerie Rockefeller Wayne is a middle school special education teacher specializing in adolescents with learning and emotional disabilities.  She taught in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, after beginning her teaching career with three years at Central Park East Secondary School in East Harlem, New York.  Most recently she has been working to establish a network of public charter schools in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Wayne has an M.Ed. in Special Education from Bank Street College of Education and an M.AT. from Columbia University Teachers College.  She majored in International Relations at Stanford University and served as a Confidential Assistant to Secretary Richard Riley at the U.S. Department of Education during the first Clinton Administration.  She is also a trustee of D.C. Preparatory Academy, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and vice chair of the Asian Cultural Council.

Ms. Wayne lives in St. Petersburg, Russia, with her husband Steve, and daughters Percy and Lucy.

Ms. Wayne joined the RBF board in 2003.
